Make your first blog amazing

Make Your First Blog Post Amazing

Make your first blog amazing.

I remember looking at people’s blogs and Income reports and thinking If only I could do that. It seemed that whatever I did, I couldn’t find a way of making any money.

I was actually running my own business that turned over hundreds of thousands of dollars. From the outside it looked great. I was making 10% profit on ever job I was doing. I had hundreds of loyal customers who loved the service I offered.

But, behind the scenes, there was a different story. I was working long, long hours. I worked seven days a week, without a break for years.  Also, because each of my sales required a large upfront payment, it meant I had to use a Factoring Agency to afford them. They were squeezing me for every penny I made. In fact, when I finally sat down to look at their costs. It dawned on me; for every 10% I made, they were taking 15%. I was working myself into the ground to pay them and making myself poorer every single day.

My Wife is disabled and couldn’t work and we also still had two Children, living at home, who depended on us. Most evenings I went shopping to see what reduced items there were at the Local Store, so I could feed the Family. Our clothes had holes in and I’d long given up our Car and was having to walk everywhere, even to get shopping in (not much fun with a broken toe.)

Things were dire

Things were dire and I knew I had to change my mindset and direction before we lost the roof over our head, which would need to be sold to cover our debts.

I struggled to let go of the business and the Customers I had fought so hard over the Years to win.

When I looked at my options, I was lost for ideas. The business had bled all of my money and I was left exhausted and depressed.

I looked around at what to do. I saw that many people were making money online and I thought to myself perhaps It was something I could do.

For the next few months, I learnt everything I could about making money online. I bought many of the get-rich quick schemes (even though I couldn’t afford them) and become more despondent, when, of course, they failed.

It quickly dawned on me that to be successful, I’d need to learn how to set-up a website and a blog and start to monetise that blog as quickly as possible. I watched literally hundreds of hours of YouTube videos and read hundreds of articles online.

Which is what leads us to today and ‘How to start a blog that delivers $$$$ into your Bank Account.’ You’re here because you’re reading my blog. The one I learnt how to build from scratch and now I want to show you how to build a website and start your own blog. It’s easier than you think and done properly, can transform your life.

Here’s how to start to make your blog amazing.

So, how do you make your first blog amazing ? Well, the first thing you’ll need is a piece of virtual real estate to place your blog on. The space were your site, or blog is situated on is called ‘Hosting.’ Think of it as one of the squares on the Monopoly board and your site, or blog as one of the houses. The best people I’ve found for hosting are called Bluehost. If you sign-up through this tutorial, you’ll get a fantastic offer of just $3.95 per month for 36 months of shared hosting. Bluehost are the only hosting come any officially recommended by WordPress and have been for 10 years now.

The next thing you will need is a Domain name (website, or blog name). If you don’t already have one, then don’t worry as you can buy one direct from Bluehost. If you do already have a domain name then you will need to point your Nameservers at Bluehost. Luckily, that’s a fairly simple process and Bluehost will assist you, if you come across any technical difficulties.

So, to get started all you have to do is go to the Bluehost sign-up page where you’ll automatically get your reduced hosting offer, when you sign-up. It’s a very simple procedure, which you’ll be able to complete fairly quickly.

There are few other offers as well as Hosting provided at sign up, which you can include at your discretion. The One we would really recommend is Domain Privacy, a paid service that allows your personal information to be kept private on WHOIS databases.

Once you’ve selected your hosting package select ‘next’ and complete your purchase.

Installing WordPress.

After your hosting and domain are in place, you can then start building your site. One of the easiest content management systems for building websites, or, blogs is called WordPress. It’s used by many of the World’s leading websites, including The New York Times, CNN, Forbes, eBay, Reuters, UPS and many more.

WordPress is the skeleton on which you will build your website.

Now, you maybe think this step will be really difficult. However on Bluehost it’s really simple to install WordPress to your site(did I mention Bluehost are the only hosting company officially recommended by WordPress.)

Anyhow, all you need to do to install WordPress is visit your c-panel (you’ll be given the link in your introductory email from Bluehost, once you’ve enrolled) and then scroll down until you see the MOJO Market.

Here you will find a one-click option to install WordPress. Select on it and it will open the WordPress Installation window. Then, click on the large green start button. You will then be given the option of which domain you’d like to launch WordPress for (if you have more than one.) Select on your chosen domain. This will start installing your WordPress site.

For the next step, please select on the ‘Show advanced options’ button. It is advisable to change both your User name and password at this point.

Remember to keep a note of both, as it is time consuming and difficult to do it at a later date.

Afterwards select on the ‘Install now’ button. Once WordPress has finished installing you can log-in to the admin section of your site by going to the URL provided and entering your User name and password.

Once you’ve logged-in you will come to a screen similar to this.

The first thing you will need to do is to scroll down to where it says ‘posts.’ Select on ‘all posts’ and go to the one that says ‘hello world.’ You will want to delete this Post as its an example post put on by WordPress.

You will want to start to make the site ‘your site’ by adding and amending things. After all, it is your site, right?

To add your first bit of content, scroll down to ‘Posts’ select ‘add new’ and you’re ready to write your first post. Add your content and publish when you’re finished. If you want to add pictures to your content, select on the ‘add media’ tab and follow the Instructions.

Pages can be added and deleted in the same way as posts.

Don’t select on the Publish button until you are 100% happy with your content and ready to publish. You can also schedule your release to be at a time of your choosing.

It will take time to get used to all of the different settings on WordPress. However, providing you select on ‘save draft,’ you will not lose your work.

You can see a site I’m working on right now. It’s :-

If you want to start your own blog, or website, you need to take action. If you don’t nothing will happen.
